Stainless steel in swimming pools
maintain • refurbish • preserve

It is impossible to imagine swimming pools without stainless steel: railings, fittings, diving boards, slides or entire pools are made of stainless steel. The material is simply incomparably malleable, robust and hygienic. But stainless steel also needs regular care.

Because its natural enemies can also be found everywhere in swimming pools: chlorine, salt and hydrochloric acid. Limescale, cosmetics, soap and mechanical abrasion caused by dust and dirt do thelrest. The alloy plays a very important role in corrosion resistance. A high
proportion of chromium and nickel as well as other metals such as titanium or molybdenum make stainless steel more resistant
(and unfortunately also more expensive). However, the most important protection against corrosion is provided by a wafer-thin protective layer of chromium oxide (approx. 10 nm), also known as a passive layer. An inadequate or defective chromium dioxide layer can lead to oxidation, stains, discolouration and corrosion.

The good news is that with proper and regular maintenance, this damage will not occur in the first place. And if it occurs, Reuter products can make your stainless steel shine again in most cases.

Reuter has developed a multi-stage system for the maintenance and refurbishment of your stainless steel systems. Five cleaning
agents of varying intensity can be used individually or in combination. The right special cloths and cleaning pads are also supplied with the chemicals. If this modular system does not produce the desired result, the last resort is electrochemical cleaning with a carbon fibre brush – the magic wand of welding professionals.
